CN Tower Lights Up for Rotary’s 100 Years In Canada, June 19, 2010
On the evening of June 19, 2010, the world’s tallest tower, CN Tower will be lit up in Rotary Blue and Gold to honour Rotary International’s 100 years in Canada, it was announced today by Doug Byers, District Governor of Rotary International District 7070 , the Rotary District located right here in southern Ontario.
We are very grateful to everyone at the CN Tower for honouring Rotary and all of the humanitarian acts of kindness that are accomplished worldwide by more than 725 Rotary Clubs with more than 27,000 members coast to coast in Canada”, Mr. Byers added.
It is also the evening before more than 20,000 Rotarians from over 200 countries will descend upon Canada in the city of Montreal for the Rotary International Convention June 20 through 23, 2010. Many visiting Rotarians and their families will be staying after the Convention and travelling throughout Canada and there is no doubt that Toronto will be high on their list”, he said.

2) District Hospitality
3) 10% Membership Net Increase
Award.
ROCY on WOW TV to promote Rotary, May 20, 2009
Past President Rotarian Tonny Wong represented our club on both the Cantonese and the Mandarin WOW TV talk shows to promote "What is Rotary" on May 20. He introduced Rotary by talking about the formation of our first Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Chicago, Illinois by our Founder Paul Harris in 1905 and how Rotary expanded beyond serving club members' professional and social interests to how Rotarians began pooling their resources and contributing their talents to help serve communities in need. He acknowledged the success of Rotary in our Rotary motto: Service Above Self. Rotary now has over 1.2 million members worldwide.
PP Tonny further outlined the major achievements of Rotary both internationally and locally. He said, ‘Rotary has actively participated in many charity and humanitarian projects. Wherever there is a need, Rotary will be there to help. There is no boundary."
He continued by mentioning the efforts of the Rotary Club of York in the international community and our local York Region community, such as:
- Clean drinking water projects in Yunnan & Sichuan provinces, China;
- Gift of Life program - Sponsored a child from Shanghai, China to have life-saving heart surgery in the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital;
- Carefirst's transportation van for the senior citizens - Providing needy transportation for our Chinese seniors; Community Safety Village of York Region - Teaching children to cross the road safely;
- Brush-a-mania - Teaching students with good denial hygiene,
- Snoezelen Project for Mon Sheong Longterm Care - Providing therapeutic equipment to seniors who suffer from Alzheimer, dementia, developmental disabilities and brain injury
- Polio Plus International Project - To eradicate polio worldwide.
Both shows were broadcast on the Internet worldwide.

Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association is a charitable organization serving the Chinese Senior in our GTA area.
Spirit of Life's 5th Anniversary Fund Raising Gala, March 29, 2009
Our club members attended the Spirit of Life's 5th Anniversary Fund Raising Gala event. On that evening, our Immediate Past President, Rotarian Sunny represented ROCY accepted a Plaque of Appreciation from of Spirit of Life in recognition of our club's donation.
Spirit of Life is a charitable organization serving individuals with developmental disabilities or related special needs by providing supports through education and services.
Our club has shown our support to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in their 2009 fundraising gala event by committing $800.00 for a full page advertisement in their fundraising program book. This advertisement will also benefit our club in raising our profile in the community.
